CLOUD MIGRATION & HARDENING

Move off the server that keeps crashing, without taking your product down.

Senior AI-native engineers move your app into your own AWS or Google Cloud account, with deploys that don't need downtime, backups you've actually restored, and alerts that reach you before your users do. Fixed price, 3 to 6 weeks.

WHO IT'S FOR

Teams book this after one of these weeks.

01

The site goes down when it gets busy.

Friday nights, launch days, the morning a newsletter goes out. One server takes all of it, and it falls over.

02

Only one person can deploy.

Releases mean SSH, a checklist in someone's head and a quiet prayer. When that person is on holiday, nothing ships.

03

You've never restored a backup.

There's a backup job somewhere. Nobody has tried bringing the database back from it, so nobody knows if it works.

04

You're still on the prototype host.

The app started on Replit or a similar host to prove the idea. Now customers pay, and the host was never meant to carry them.

SELF-CHECK

Is your hosting ready for more users? 6 questions

Answer for your own product. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to book.

  1. 01Does the whole product run on one server or one prototype host?
  2. 02Has it gone down in the last three months because of traffic?
  3. 03Does deploying need one specific person?
  4. 04Do you deploy straight to production, with no staging?
  5. 05Has nobody tested restoring the database from a backup?
  6. 06Do you hear about outages from customers first?

WHAT YOU GET

What's included in a cloud migration?

Everything below lands in your cloud account and your repo. You hold the keys from day one.

  1. 01Your app in containers. Docker images for each service, built the same way every time.
  2. 02Infrastructure in your own AWS or Google Cloud account, on managed containers (Cloud Run on Google Cloud), so no one has to babysit servers.
  3. 03CI/CD with zero-downtime deploys. Every merge is tested, built and rolled out without taking the site down, with the previous version kept for instant rollback.
  4. 04A staging environment that matches production, so changes are tried before customers see them.
  5. 05Backups with a tested restore. We restore your database from a backup before cut-over and write down how long it took.
  6. 06Monitoring and alerts that reach your team before your users notice.
  7. 07A cut-over plan with a rollback path, agreed with you in advance.
  8. 08A runbook another engineer can follow to deploy, roll back and restore.
  9. 092 weeks of post-launch support after the switch.

Every merge is reviewed by a senior engineer, and the infrastructure is written as code in your repo, so the next team can read it.

THE CUT-OVER

How we move a live product without an outage.

The old server keeps running until the new setup has proven itself. You can stop the move at any point before step 4.

01

WEEK 1

Map and plan

We list every service, background job, webhook and secret, estimate your monthly cloud bill, and agree a cut-over window with you.

02

WEEKS 2–3

Build the new home

Containers, infrastructure and CI/CD go up in your account. A full copy of the product runs on staging next to the old server.

03

REHEARSAL

Practise the move

We run the whole cut-over on staging, including a database restore and a rollback, and time each step.

04

CUT-OVER

Switch, then watch

Traffic moves in a planned window. The old server stays on standby until the new setup has run clean, and rollback is one step.

PRICE

How much does a cloud migration cost?

CLOUD MIGRATION & HARDENING

from $6,500

3–6 WEEKS · FIXED AFTER THE SCOPING CALL

Most single-app moves land near the low end. Your fixed price comes out of the Week 1 plan, before any infrastructure work starts.

WHAT MOVES THE PRICE

  • Number of services. One app and a database is the simple case. Separate workers, APIs and frontends each add work.
  • Database size and move window. Bigger databases need more rehearsal to fit a short window.
  • Background jobs. Scheduled tasks and queues have to move without running twice or not at all.
  • Third-party webhooks. Stripe, CRMs and other services that call your app need their addresses switched at the right moment.

Cloud costs are billed to your own account at cost. Prices are in USD and exclude any applicable taxes.

ZapBook

Booking SaaS

ZapBook had grown for five years on a single VPS and was crashing weekly. As part of a 12-month engagement with an embedded team of four, we moved it to Google Cloud Run with Docker and zero-downtime deploys. Since then it has gone six months without a crash. The engagement is now in Phase II.

HELM's rebuild runs on the same stack: Next.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL and GCP Cloud Run.

You get 2 weeks of support after cut-over. After that, pick what fits, or run it yourselves with the runbook.
